15 Ways to Use Affirmations Daily To Lessen your Stress

How do you affirm life by using affirmations?

Affirmations affirm life by providing encouragement for positive thinking and making choices that propel you forward in life. The best way to incorporate affirmations into your life is by daily exposure as they work best with repetition.

How much repetition?

Enough so that your affirmations become second nature. They need to be part of you to be at their most effective. This is the way that your affirmations will help you manage your stress before your stress manages you. And the more creative you can be in having them become second nature, the better.

Now the tried and true typical way of using affirmations is by repeating them daily in front of the mirror. However, that can get really boring really quickly. The great thing is that there are many ways to incorporate affirmations into your daily routine.

  1. Watch a movie or tv show that reflects your affirmations

  2. As you go about your day, notice things that remind you of your affirmations. At the end of the day, write down what they are and why they triggered that association.

  3. Find a podcast whose topic and approach the subject matter relates to your affirmations.

  4. Play a game of 'affirmation catch' with your partner or best friend. Start by 'throwing' affirmations about each other and then turn it around, so you have to think of something positive about yourself to throw.

  5. Build a playlist of songs that reinforce your affirmations.

  6. Tap into your creativity and draw, scrapbook, embroider, sculpt or paint the meaning of your affirmations.

  7. Ask your partner or best friend to record themselves reading your affirmations aloud. Have them substitute your name for the 'I' part. Save the audio track onto your smartphone and listen to it during your commute or downtime.

  8. Build your own photo library of images that inspire you or remind you of your successes or are related to your affirmations in some way. Consider putting them into a pretty frame and hang up where you can easily see them.

  9. Imagine your affirmations as of your favorite foods. Which ones taste the best, and why?

  10. Read your favorite personal development author and follow them on social media.

  11. Create a Pinterest board that aligns with your affirmations. Or check out my post on how to create an affirmation board (similar to a vision board but focuses on affirmations).

  12. Use your clothes to remind yourself of your affirmations. For example, a favorite pair of shoes could be a sign of how you are striding towards success.

  13. Sing your affirmations while you're doing housework or exercising. Don’t worry about your voice if you’re not a singer – just go for it!

  14. Think of your favorite movie, tv, or book character who most resembles the person you want to be or the qualities you want to have.

  15. Try aromatherapy. List the scents that you associate with each of your affirmations. Then choose an essential oil to burn while you're thinking about that affirmation.

The most important thing is to make sure that you spend time with your affirmations each day. Before you know it, they’ll become a part of you and help uplift you. It’s all about Making Time.

Let’s talk. How do you intend to incorporate affirmations into your daily life? Let me know in the comments section.
